When you design software, you have three sets of knowns:
🟢 Known knowns — requirements you know and are under control of.
🟡 Known unknowns — uncertain items you are at least aware of, like scale, or some future product directions.
🔴 Unknown unknowns — all the unforeseeable ways things can fail.

If I could convince people in my field (software development, broadly) of one thing, it would be that the vast majority of users *like* centralization. People do not want to run their own web sites or their own mail servers or their own microblogging channels. They want a thing that just works.
