Been chasing an issue in my mix for a few shows now and tonight finally tracked it down to my drum bus comp pinning my snare too hard (had no idea it could do that and the LEDs didn’t indicate that much compression was happening). The more complex your setup is, the more chances you have to fuck up.

Studio update (with shitty overhead lighting) after needing the basement redone due to mold. Actually got use SMAART to dial the room this time and boy what a difference. Ended up with the blue trace, though I did turn the subs down a bit after - that bump works better live than in the studio 😅

But since the RB-500 is passive, we also checked an active module - a Quagliardi 576 compressor. Here are the attack and release graphs (input starts at -30, jumps to -20, then back to -30). Interestingly, the Quag has noticeably louder output! 3/4
