these are the wrong connectors for this application. The contractor was trying to create a cathedral style ceiling, but didn’t have any rafter thrust protection. These hurricane connectors are only for uplift, but not for rafter thrust.

Would you believe that the contractor was going to pour concrete right up against that back wall that is framed with OSB on this exterior porch? The mason screwed up the foundation and the framer made it worse. This is what happens when you have an incompetent GC in charge.
