First, the obvious answer is that "when the Nazis came for us, there was no one to speak for me".
Second, is it's another form of degradation (like the serial number tattoos). Manipulating the Jewish people into using the same rhetoric that was used against them (as well as others) during WWII.

They are specifically using this tactic to drive a wedge between Jewish communities and the rest of the world.

I have found that rhetoric in the Jewish community (even among the less-religious) is not very different from right-wing rhetoric.
Which is very different to how it was when I was young, and also different to the lessons that are taught in the religion itself (not unlike Christianity).
