Authorities will execute a search warrant at the suspect's residence and go through cell phone records to "find out if there was a motive,"
Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye said.
The suspect, who Renye said was killed by police in a shootout at the church, has been identified as a 40-year-old man from Burton, Michigan.
Renye said the FBI has allocated "100 agents to the area" to help get statements from witnesses.
"As you can imagine, there's a lot of witnesses that were within the church and that is a lot of witness information statements that we have to obtain," he said.
The chief said hundreds of people were attending the service at the time of the attack.

I have been briefed on the horrendous shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The FBI was immediately on scene, and will be leading the Federal Investigation, and providing full support to State and Local Officials. The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn. This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted, as we always do. In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!

This screenshot is going around conservative Twitter. Right wingers are preparing to use this tragedy to be anti-union. 5 people needing care after gunshot wounds, does not need a big response of a bajillion nurses that justifies breaking a strike. Any argument to the contrary is cynical

Just want to let it be known that multiple nurses on strike at Henry Ford tried to go in and with the situation in Grand Blanc today and we turned away.
