Are we sure it's a good idea to be telling everyone about this?

Collective responsibility leads to collective punishment, which can be a war crime.

You're entitled to your opinion. There's more than one point. I was responding to one claim. Still, I'm no stranger to missing the point.

"The German people" did not choose Hitler to 'lead' them, and they were and are not collectively responsible for what happened. Many individuals supported Hitler and his crimes, but not 'the German people'. He was about as popular as DJT is now.

To be clear, I also don't think the US should do anything unilaterally, but should support international moves through the UN. Clearly, this is not going to happen, and I trust Trump about as far as I could spit a bowling ball. I'm talking about an ideal world, which doesn't exist.

Fair enough. How are they going?

They're not broken if you're not thinking about the ethics/morality. Leave that out and it makes perfect sense. Those men tend to have more offspring. Also, the behaviour is rewarded with gratification.

You don't think hundreds of thousands of people risking their lives to overthrow the regime might indicate some displeasure with said regime? Seems like a reasonable supposition. They're thinking clearly, and expressing themselves with definite action. Are you not listening? What's my ideology?
February 1, 2026 at 3:40 AM
Fair call, although I've never heard of GAMAAN. I was just going by credible reports of hundreds of thousands of people protesting at risk of their lives against a brutal theocracy. I know the regime is more popular in the countryside. Where do you get your information?

I agree, on both counts. I was only reacting to the reflexive criticism of the US. They're in a bit of a bind, and can't win. Whether they intervene or not, everyone bitches. I'm a strong critic, about Venezuela, eg. I wonder how the Board of Peace would handle it?

This is my field, and I'm fully aware of the many disasters that beckon, but don't you think someone should try to do something? It certainly shouldn't just be left up to Trump, that's for sure.
January 30, 2026 at 4:34 PM
That's probably true, so the rest of the 'international community' should be getting involved as much as possible. Or sensible. It's hard. It's easy to make things worse. But there should come a time when somebody says, 'enough'.

We know how Iranians would not like it to be governed: by the Ayatollah. And they have no way of changing that without aid. I'm no fan of Trump, but surely there comes a time when outside forces should lend some assistance in what is clearly a bloody crackdown on people fighting for their freedom?

This applies also to me, but I'm really messaging to ask if you found out where the quote in your bio comes from.
January 25, 2026 at 12:36 PM
True, of course, when it comes to specifics, but they always want to keep others out and us safe. They also generally love seeing evil people get it in the neck. These are generic.
October 15, 2025 at 1:27 AM
...because it's what people want.
October 15, 2025 at 1:21 AM
You have to stop using the 'convicted felon' line. It doesn't work. They don't care and they never will. You will never change anyone's mind with it. In fact, you'll do the opposite. They just laugh.
October 13, 2025 at 7:59 AM
Well, excuuuse me.
October 7, 2025 at 6:08 AM
Because they would assume they were trying to get around the restrictions. They assume everyone is like them, and will do anything to gain a unfair advantage.
October 7, 2025 at 6:02 AM
Having consulted copilot, not a very reliable source, I have to modify this. Perhaps I'm seeing more provocative material because I interact with it. That definitely happens. It's a comforting thought, although still scary considering there are people being radicalised by it.
October 6, 2025 at 12:04 PM
Good point, up to a point. There are plenty of real people on there and many of them are truly terrifying. Others are perfectly sensible people fighting the good fight.
October 6, 2025 at 12:00 PM
Well, that's the hope.
October 6, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Yes, and there are plenty of people who don't want to be informed because they've already made up their mind and don't want their worldview challenged. They invest their identity in it, so the last thing they want is to be convinced that they're wrong.

So he dies, then you get JD in office for a couple of years to get ready for the next election. If he wins that, or gets around it somehow, that's six years to consolidate. Either him or Stephen Miller. Trump is not the one making strategy, I don't think. It'll be interesting to see if they split.
