This isn't a great analogy because overtourism of natural spaces is an actual problem that can damage the environments people want to visit, whereas building more housing in an area is just straightforwardly good.

It also requires that you have topics that's you're trying to actively make a case for. If you triangulate on a few things you can make yourself seem less threatening so you can convince people on other stuff, if you triangulate on everything you're just being a spineless weasel, which no one likes.
