My main guide to posture quackery and pseudoscience:

“Text neck” is one of the best specific examples of posture silliness. Another closely related one, and even dumber, is “cell phone horns.” 🙄

As I age, mobility work definitely helps me perform better (or slow down my decline!).

But when it’s time to train, like many, I just want to get into the session ASAP.

Biomechanics still remain one of the biggest misconceptions in running.

Yes they can matter, for performance more than anything else, and offering “different”, not necessarily “better” or “correct” biomechanics can offload painful structures and help ease symptoms.

Truth is I don’t anymore, I’ve learned that offering advice and guidance on the things someone needs to do, more than the things an athlete wants or thinks they need won’t always be received well at first.

We’ve all heard the lines:

“Running is bad for your knees” and “don’t run if you have knee arthritis, it will make them worse”.

Many people heed this advice and stop.

I get why athletes want a quick fix in order to keep training and racing, I really do.

What annoys me the most is the people who should know better but offer and promote it nonetheless, often profiteering from innocent athletes.

But in reality it’s this simple.
