Lower bond ratings and less diversity in who runs for office. Not sure how we fix it more that it’s so badly destroyed.

Parachute journalism only worked bc of the local and regional news that feed big stories up the chain. Now the bottom of the chain is gone. Really important news is not covered and the top regurgitates bc nothing new enters. The result is measurably more corruption, higher taxes, lower bond

Some nuance: it became that way bc the internet broke the business model and it was no longer possible to make a profit with local advertising. When it gets to the point you can make more money at Starbucks, only the kids of the elite can do the job.

The thing I was best at was local journalism and I would have done it forever, if only it hadn’t died. There’s a direct line between that and the state of our world today.
