Honestly hate they Musk is getting the “credit” for this. Anyone who has worked in tech with the government has been saying this for YEARS. And after hearing what Elon considers good practice for tech, it should be almost anyone else in charge of these decisions.

I agree on principle. The context I view this in is one of realistically possible progressive change. In that context, it’s unavoidable to at least approach the topic. The party leaders they are selecting have to win an election within that political system.

Don’t get me wrong. I wish international geopolitics was as simple as you seem to think, and I wish the voice of the average American carried the weight we wished it did.
But neither of those things are true. The reality is, the Dems were the only option if you care about Gaza.

Harris literally called for immediate ceasefire and negotiations on a long term solution. What was she supposed to do? She said it a little late, but in response to pressure from the electorate. That was the difference we were voting for, Trump will NEVER bend to the will of the people.

It’s echo chambers. Notes also refute objectively correct info. Since it’s community driven it further isolates communities and that enables proliferation of more extreme and dangerous ideas in those groups, if not across the entire service. The scale might be different, but the problem is the same

I wholeheartedly agree. Most social media used to be kinda fun, or at least connecting. Now the algorithm and ad data is all that matters.

The point is that they didn’t have the resources to actively moderate for that language at the time. Because of this, blatantly false and inflammatory information was passed around on Facebook that incited real violence and loss of life on a large scale, due to the lack of moderation.
