I’m reading The Mathematics of Origami by @josephorourke.bsky.social. A great read with well explained math. We’ll be exploring some of these topics and open questions with our high school math club. #ITeachMath

My favourite method of solving this was to rotate the circle to simplify the problem. Not many students saw this way of thinking about the problem at first. www.desmos.com/calculator/k... #ITeachMath

Playing a few quick games of Inversé with my son. Just 5 pieces and 3 rules. My favourite part is that each block has different dimensions but the same volume. #mathplay

My son is practicing Pythagorean Theorem at school so he is squaring lots of two digit numbers. Showed him the “close together method” I learned recently from Arthur Benjamin’s book The Magic of Math. I’ve been using this method lots now that I know why/when it works.

Haven’t played Scrabble in years but my son has gotten in to it. I think Wordle has made me a better player. It’s really a math game disguised as a word game.

I’ve reached the Dad era when I’m getting Lego for Christmas instead of just giving it. Built it this evening with a bit of help/supervision from my son.

Thinking about geometry vocabulary and diameter vs diagonal. Students seem to be much more familiar with diameter of a circle than they are with the diagonal of a polygon. #SameDiffMath #ITeachMath
