protect herself (and even protect Kairos too). They're able to work out more of a balanced dynamic that evolves into friendship and eventual romance. But it starts on the night Elayna opened up, and Kairos in turn told her why he became a paladin in the first place.

Leaving her troupe to go solo was the first time she'd ever been truly alone in her life, and she couldn't bear it. She knows people wouldn't just agree to be a bodyguard and companion for free, which is why she offered a salary. Overtime Elayna learns to use her magic and newfound skills to-

At the end of the day, Kairos is still perfect for her. They were quite literally made for each other lol. But this was a fun little thought experiment and fun to see how Elayna would be in these relationships. Maybe Elayna and Kairos' dynamic will be my next thread someday. 🤔

So what’s the problem? The very beginning. His wizard arrogance and the way he acted like wizards are the only ones who receive a formal magical education really rubbed her the wrong way. He’d have to make the first move and humble himself, but if he does, these two would go all the way to the end.

Gale: They bond over their shared love of gaining knowledge, and they both have an affinity for Waterdeep. She’d love to settle down with him in Waterdeep post game. He can keep up with her quick wit and intellect with ease which she would find stimulating in more ways than one.

The problem, again, are the possible endings. She wouldn’t want to stay in Baldur’s Gate she hates that city. She also wouldn’t want to go to Avernus or the frontiers she's done with outdoors adventuring. If there was another possible path for them, then this is totally viable.

Wyll: Another one who is great on paper. She lives for the heroic prince who sweeps her off her feet and seduces her with sweetness. It's a welcome change of pace from what she had before, and she'd value his friendship as well as his love. They're very sweet together and look out for one another.

The main problem is the endings. She’s not going to Avernus, it’s just a no. The mind flayer ending is also a no from her. If she was a companion, she’d break up with the player if they went full illithid. And if Karlach perished on the docks, that’s just too sad she wouldn't wanna go through that.

Karlach: Elayna wouldn't expect to be as interested in Karlach as she is, but there's a spark there for sure. She likes her company and would be able to be patient while Karlach gets her engine fixed. The longing adds to the excitement for her. This could definitely make it to Act 3.

Much like Lae’zel, Shadowheart starts off as too abrasive and intense for her liking. For Elayna, love and attraction are flames that must constantly be fed, and the drop off in Act 2 would be enough to put that fire out. The kiss animations are cute though.

Shadowheart: Honestly these two just don’t have very much chemistry. Elayna would like to share wine with Shadowheart (and be very opinionated about said wine). She likes to swim so she’d have no problem showing Shadowheart the ropes. But anything they have likely won’t last til Act 3.

Halsin: Halsin is sweet and considerate, which Elayna really likes. She's just really not fucking with the druid way of life or the lack of bathing that comes with it. That's a major roadblock for her would she have a fling? Yes, as long as he has a bath first. But long term relationship? It's a no.

Lae'zel: Her romance in Act 3 is genuinely really cute and really sweet. Unfortunately, Elayna isn’t getting that far. Lae’zel is a bit too abrasive and intense for her at first. Elayna is no stranger to casual sex, but the refusal to connect post sex in Act 1 would just make her feel used.

for protection would really fuck with her. She’d be really hurt and outraged, almost wanting him to leave the party for it. A relationship from this point on wouldn’t work, not just because of the hurt, but because she’d never be able to fully trust him from that point on.

Astarion: On paper, he’s exactly who she would go for. A sexy smooth talker with a supernatural edge, oh she’d absolutely love that. If she met him pre-game she’d be cooked. The roadblock here is his Act 2 confession. Knowing their Act 1 encounter was initially an act to manipulate her feelings-

Minthara: Definitely the least compatible out of all of them. Elayna thinks she’s hot, but she doesn’t align with minthara’s evil “take over the elderbrain” plan. Frankly, I spared her this run just to see, but in Elayna’s canon story? Minthara ends up like the other goblin leaders.
