Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

But.... I don't know, I'm not seeing nearly as many O'Keefe, Chagall, or Dalí mentions in there, who all had similar lifespans to Picasso and are also "famous museum painters."

Are we more collectively aware of their place on the art history timeline than his??

Still enjoying browsing this post's quotes today.

But I see so many Picasso mentions, which I think is mostly about the cultural hive mind lumping him in w/ other "museum" artists (Van Gogh, Vermeer, da Vinci) even though they're all WILDLY different eras.

Picasso's a 20th c guy! Yay art history!

Here's one for my Reds fan followers: Edd Roush could have seen Barry Larkin play.

(No idea if it happened, but he lived in Bradenton when he died in 1988, not far from the Reds' Sarasota Spring Training home.)

Ramona Quimby was 4 years old in 1955 (Beezus and Ramona) and 9 years old in 1999 (Ramona Forever).

She could have watched Howdy Doody and Pokémon, listened to Rock Around the Clock and the Thong Song.

She was, all at once, Silent Generation, a Baby Boomer, Gen X, and a Millennial.

Seriously, in the frenzy of the Reds falling backward into a wild card slot… I never processed the fun fact that three whole NL Central teams made the playoffs, none of them St. Louis!

Even though these young Reds were not as talented as the Dodgers, they did not give up. You can see why they were able to earn that final playoff spot when other more experienced teams dogged it and fell flat on their faces.
