Not counting real people, who's your greatest fitness influence?

2 weeks in Italy...

7 pounds gained...

I'd be devastated if I didn't already lose that weight right before the trip. 😜

Planning is how you enjoy life, my fams.

If you need headphones in the gym, you're not gonna make it.

With how phone-addicted people are, how long until we reach this point?

I say 2030, at the latest.

If goals won't get you off your ass, create a Reverse Goal.

What result in life would be unacceptable for you?

For me, it would be to become obese again.

That gets me more fired-up than "adding 20lbs to a lift" EVER will.

Did I buy separate devices for books and comics even though my phone can handle it?

Yes, I did.

Do I regret the separation of duties to e-ink devices that let me focus on reading without distraction?

No, I do not.

Your phone can do anything, but it doesn't need to be your everything.

Sleep tip:

Instead of bringing your phone to bed, try an e-reader.

The Kindle's e-ink screen and orangey sidelights won't aggressively force your brain to stay up.

Guaranteed better sleep, or I'll refund you for this post.

Can anyone tell me why people who "care" about their health drink alcohol?

-Empty calories
-Tastes like acid
-Makes you dumb

What am I missing?

As a phone addict, I had what's called "brain fog."

I couldn't focus as much as I wanted to.

I forgot things that I was just doing.

But then I got better.

Reduce your unnecessary screentime, for your brain's sake.

I once had the good fortune of showing 2(!) 49-year-old men that they could do pull-ups.

These clients never met each other, but them accomplishing that together was the cool.

When you're going through it, remember that someone else is going through it, too.

Share some of your spirit energy, fam.

Maybe you're special and CAN'T poop without your phone.

But not even trying is far more embarrassing. 😁

“Surrender is an outcome far worse than defeat.” — Vegeta

Yeah, maybe you can't do a single push-up yet.

Pretty lame if you don't test it out, though.

I had a 72-year-old client who could barely sit without taking it easy.

Getting her to squat to parallel with a kettlebell is still my proudest moment.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that fitness is impossible once you're a certain age.

Fitness creates youth.

Using your phone too much weakens your upper back, by the way.

Either use it less, or do some more pulling.

(Ideally, you wanna do both.)

Easy way to tell if someone is BSing you:

They say "just Google it" when asked for clarification.

No, it's not my job to Google if the carnivore diet cures cancer.

I've read 37 books in the last 1.5 years.

Not as many as others, sure, but it's a big upgrade from the 1 per year I previous read.

How?

I started putting timers on everything I did on my PC and phone.

Turns out, you have a lot more free time when you stop wasting most of it.

"Comparison is the thief of joy."

Always rejoice in the progress you've made!

Even if you just saw some guy online deadlift a car.

3 key steps to losing 100 pounds (based on my experience):

1. Build a habit of fairly strenuous activity (at least walk)
2. Get your overall nutrition under control (track your calories)
3. Become comfortable not seeing progress (it's gonna take a while)

Give it 2 years, and you'll be 40x happier.

Leave your phone with your keys and wallet when you get home.

Establish in your mind that your phone is a tool, not a hobby.

Your muscles generally require 48-72 hours for exercise recovery.

You can exercise more often or less often—entirely up to you.

But this is a good rule of thumb when deciding frequency.

The common advice is to not keep certain snacks in your home.

If you're not ready for that one yet, there is another option for you:

- Put them in a weird place so that you forget about them half the time.

This way, I'm pleasantly surprised whenever I come across them. (Dried Seaweed ♥)

I weighed 127lbs in the 1st grade.

How much did you weigh back then?

I've no idea what a normal 1st-grader weight is.

(If anyone responds in kg, they're getting sent to the Shadow Realm.)
