Smart politicians don’t pander to the morons, they manipulate them. I know that’s cynical, but those shouting at hotels and going on about small boats are idiots. Making policy based on their opinions is daft.

They're just copying the Trump MAGA playbook from 2016 onwards. By definition, half the people are thicker than average and that's all you need to win an election in an age of unregulated social media.

For 15 years it worked really well. The water authorities were fecking awful before. Shite drinking water, dead rivers, turd strewn beaches and managed by bloated old-boys clubs. It was a corrupt shambles. Sadly, in the last 15 years, it’s come back full circle.

This shouldn’t even be a topic of debate. Everyone is entitled to due process under the constitution, whether you think they’re a criminal or not. This includes crimes relating to immigration.
