Big tech: "Why doesn't anyone like AI? It makes everyone's lives better!"

AI: The most recent Silent Hill movie teases a connection to a larger universe, specifically Avengers: Doomsday.

Return to Silent Hill was a terrible movie. Like, as a movie with structure, plot, arcs...just the way you form a movie is all horribly wrong.

...but I...loved it? I can't explain it. Every time I try to explain what I liked, I'm already describing something that went wrong.

It reminds me of the 90s when some intern told one exec that 90s youth style is "either super grunge and muddy or bright and colorful, but full of extreme expression," so every executive in America created a sound bank full of incoherent loud noises and made all the camera work look like a seizure.
The Marketing Paradox, applied:
The last decade of marketing execs cannot seem to learn that no one likes "reality" marketing...

...but they seem to know a little too well that a good portion of the internet assumes that ASMR chicks either put out or have an OF.

Speaking of AI, I'm glad we're all taking a moment to realize how much we took Movie Trailer Guy for granted. TikTok AI Voice Guy jobs to him every day.

It would normally be exciting to see a Star Trek: Voyager game, but literally every piece of media showing it off was smothered and covered in AI. I didn't even think it was a real, licensed game at first. Maybe mobile shovelware.

It's a real game with a real demo, but I'm suspicious.

The 90s had the best music, period. We have what...6 genres of music today? I'm looking at you the 28 different folk pop bands that all sound exactly the same.

The 90s were different. We threw every goddamned genre we could find against the wall whether it stuck or not.

Post a game you remember playing that nobody else remembers

I can't help but wonder if Scott Adams ever said
"No you're not putting a finger up there. That's woke and gay."

Because what the media and so-called "scientists" won't tell you is that's where they keep the vitamin C. I did my own research, so trust me, bro.

The promise: "AI is going to change the world! Diseases cured! Impossible math solved!"

The reality:
Whata Bod, ID
YouTube dying via clone channels
Horny, racist Grok
Nvidia killing off GPUs
Crucial killing off RAM
Copyright theft

...and we get to give up all our water, power, and jobs for it.

For at least as long as the 20 years I've actually paid attention, the weather reports here in the US have not been very reliable. Sometimes close, but never right. I know we underfund the NOAA...

...has anyone else noticed how VERY wrong the weather has been in the last year?

I think it's kind of nuts that, even though the dates can be fuzzy depending on the definition, the internet has now existed for as long as TV existed at the time it came out. Even the fuzzy dates kind of line up...concept, first real usage, first practical consumer years, first mass adoption, etc

You know what doesn't eat up even a gig of ram? Cartridge games on consoles that still work....

Random things I miss.

Pudding in a can
Frozen grapefruit juice
Would I like All Sport today?

My dream job in 2026 would be a WWE staff writer for Raw or Smackdown. If the only expectation of me is to write 5 episodes and leave the rest to a photocopier and ChatGPT, that's a lot of free time.

What a punch to the gut.

Sanity check - is 8BitDo support normally as garbage as it's looking like right now?

And despite all the warnings, here we are in 2025 where GPUs and RAM have become the potatoes and corn of the tech world.

Fuck you, we're getting that money.

I'm kind of sad that I'm coming up on the last episode of Evil. It's seriously the best worst show I've seen in a while.

It's incredible to me how in every news story, every piece of media, in every bit of pop culture, there's a definite feeling of "this world is absolutely fucked" but it's never acknowledged. People are trying every day to get by and move on, but the elephants are getting bigger and having babies.

Remember, right wing politicians don't actually care about religious values. It was always all about money. Adam and Steve would get the married tax rate, Steve would get on Adam's health insurance, and then there's inheritance....
