I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that, but it is indeed the wet dream of the American fossil fuel industry to be able to easily shut up their opponents like they do across the Global South... and boy, do they hate me! My climate optimism seems to terrify them. They constantly threaten me over it.

Got any recommendations then? I’ve applied for grant after grant with no success. I’ve tried for half a decade to develop long-term partnerships with organizations. I’ve dipped my toes into consulting. I’ve tried to crowdfund. No one wants to fund my work! Substack is my best bet right now.

I’m about to lose my biggest platform — and the one that got me into climate communication in the first place. It’s very bittersweet but also worrying considering paid partnerships I post there account for around 25-30% of my income. Time to continue growing my Substack, I guess!

This is a recipe for another Kingston coal ash disaster, and I say that as someone who played a teeny tiny role in developing safer landfill disposal guidelines for coal ash. Unlined pits never prevent water pollution. Highly engineered landfills/monofills barely do!

I tried my best to stay on X, yet I had no choice but to leave. I was receiving violent threats — often containing sensitive info about me — on a daily basis. I wish there had been a way to safely continue posting there because I’ve been concerned about what you’re saying ever since I left.

You’re right that animal agriculture is a major emitter, but the post you’re replying to is in reference to the United States kidnapping a world leader in the name of oil..
I’m also a climate justice activist focused on holding the fossil fuel industry accountable sooooooo…
