Hakea lorea. Uluru and Kata Tjuta. I was blown away by the flora just as much as by the iconic and culturally significant rock formations and red sand.
Hakea lorea’s gnarly, twisted black bark contrasts beautifully against the bright blue sky and creamy chartreuse blooms.

Paul Mullins, the former NSW Fire and Rescue Commissioner, says the California wildfires are ‘happening because of climate change.. and what we predicted.’

We can prevent more tragedies like this by acting more effectively to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.

This is the climate crisis. It brings back memories of the terror we felt during the 2019 black summer fires here in Australia . #pray4LA
These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer.

These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP.

Grevillea Aacanthifolia. So pretty, yet kind of deadly, those leaves are like surgical scalpels! #austrliannative #grevillea #aussiegarden #garden #bushblooms

The Coalition is playing voters for mugs once again with its nuclear costings

By Laura Tingle

Nuclear reactors by 2036?

Sure. And I’ll have a flying car, a pet robot, and Australia will win Eurovision.

Love a good fantasy tale .. 🙄

#auspol
There's something spookily familiar about how Dutton handled his nuclear plan
The opposition finally unveiled its much-promised nuclear energy costings yesterday. It will be hoping Labor continues to prove it is not very good at politics.

Favourite concept so far at @ecolsocaus.bsky.social #ESaus2024. @dieterhochuli.bsky.social discussing the need to change our typical perceptions of species (pictured) to not look past the value of common species, particularly when looking at nature in urban environments 👏🏻

Sheoaks (allocasuarina) are kinda wild! They fix their own nitrogen and what you think are their leaves, arent! Circled below. Read my article for the full story.

"People used to tell me a garden full of Australian native plants would never win grand champion," Gordon Reynolds of Highfields. His garden of Australian natives went on to win the grand champion prize in the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

Mountain Devil (Lambertia formosa) is a NSW icon! Hardy, fire-resistant, and bursting with sweet nectar you can sip (dont take bush blooms!). I’ve got one growing at home—fingers crossed for more this season. 💚 Seen any on your walks? #AussienativePlants #BlueMountains #gardening

Allocasuarina (Sheoak) - Those green "needles" aren’t leaves—they’re branches! The real leaves are tiny, tooth-like structures along them. Pretty cool adaptation to survive Australia’s tough conditions. Next time you see one, take a closer look! #AussiePlants #Nativegarden #gardening #garden

Just soak lawn clippings, ferment, dilute, and apply. A simple, low-phosphorus homemade fertiliser to boost for your native garden. 🌱 #AustralianNativeGardening #gardening
