I never felt that connection; it did not help that my mother forced me to attend church until I was sixteen. Moreover, my mother and sister are the only "good" Christians that I know. With the political climate and increased forced exposure, I've had things on my mind. This isn't meant to be a criticism or anything; it's more of a philosophical take.
