"Hey boss, why do you think our modern political party can only attract out of touch weirdos who cos play like it's the 1980's?"

"No idea chap, now help me take down this display of hermetically sealed clothes from a woman born a century ago and last elected in 1987"

Bastard to most, fetish to the rest

Curated is when you let it flop open deliberately.

Isn't kitchenalia what you have when your dressing gown flops open as you're making toast in the morning?

"I see you're doubting the intellectual rigour of Caribbean people because you find a figure that ends with 12 zeros is too specific now, twyll."

There is an element of truth in there for sure.

For about six months the 13yo seemed to take pride in part of his personality was "being annoying".

His brother soon taught him being annoying came with thumps so he got himself a girlfriend and moved on

Both cruel, but immensely funny.

Just took myself on a wee rabbit hole to the photographer's website. I really like some of his portrait stuff

Next to the rest of them, I don't think she's found her tribe
thegibbon.bsky.social
So many of them appear so objectionable and posturing and yet fragile and sad.

Which makes me want to say to the normal but awkward looking Em "it's ok, it's just a phase and hopefully you'll grow out of it when you find what makes you happy. Oh and by the way, your tie's tucked into your pants"

It truly is amazing.

Each shot really captures something impressive and is a stunning bit of portraiture.

They're all remarkable compositions and studies. I find them all absolutely fascinating as to just how much they seem to reveal about the subject
thegibbon.bsky.social
Captain incest's shot is one of the least fascinating of them- he's just getting the attention for... well, exactly...

But there's layers in so many of them.
thegibbon.bsky.social
The pose & expression are remarkable. Cocksure and proud of himself, but only as the thinnest veneer that can't conceal the sad loneliness, self reproach and future regret breaking through.

Juxtaposed with the can and flag it's a real work of art.

The photographer is fantastic.

YES.

Oh yes, I couldn't put my finger on it.

"But mum, what about Jonathan Haidt's hypothetical brother and sister who had doubly protected sex on holiday, is it ok then?"

"Look Charlie, I only asked you to pass the carrots. Besides which you don't have a sister and your brother has already said "No, thank you." on at least 4 occasions now."

As with everything else with a Russian angle it's another factor in the cost/ complexity of doing business near them and them being a belligerent neighbour interfering in the independent workings of neighbouring nations.

Putin has still done less to damage the industry than trump has in the US mind
thegibbon.bsky.social
Yeah- it's of bigger impact to smaller (eg survey) vessels as you can't really install the counter jamming equipment and/ or bigger antenna, so hopefully come installation it can be counteracted on the bigger DP2 craft.
It seems they're capable of both blanket interference and targeting indiv vessel
thegibbon.bsky.social
The stuff in the Baltic isn't really getting the traction over here it might. We're currently doing seabed surveys off Gdansk in Poland but have lost well over a week now to GPS jamming and spoofing originating in Kaliningrad making the vessel's systems show it as being off Sweden.

Russia's grey-zone conflict against the West is escalating at sea as well as in the air, as evident in drone incursions in Denmark and a the boarding of Boracay by France
This week in @economist.com we look at the threat posed by Russia's shadow fleet, and NATO efforts to counter it. A short 🧵 1/3

😉, I'm just resentful at years of Scotland losing to them in the six nations.
thegibbon.bsky.social
Yep, completely justified to allow children to continue to learn in their native language given the sacrifice and disruption to family life & education caused by being a military kid anyway.

That said I also think paying millions just to avoid the Welsh is justified spending too

This is not a particularly good Barnsley side coming in off the back of 4 losses
thegibbon.bsky.social
Yeah, it's a good feeling when the reset works just fine. I've had a three-for at Leeds before with two aborts, including one with tyres on the ground and gunning it and taking off again. That was decidedly not fun.

Diverted to teesside after failing to land before too.

Very generous of them not to clip that quote of hers to finish three words sooner.

Flipping prefer trains though. I'm only 6ft 1 and can already see this is going to get tiresome compared to my old Scotland commute
