When something is "capital," it becomes easier to interface with the capitalistic optimization algorithm – which doesn’t have any intrinsic values or aesthetics; it moves relentlessly to places where the numbers look better. What happens when this is applied to nature, or natural capital?

We must move past defining success solely by maximizing net worth. Wealth can be isolating (leading to "sad on a boat"). True success comes from purposeful work, deep friendships, and active contribution to community goals.

If you work in a creative field, even with wildly impressive background and experience, you are still wrong at least 90% of the time. Being wrong isn't even an event, it's just the state you're in most of the time until you're almost done.

To cut through the noise of ideology and misinformation, we must prioritize understanding ecology, physics, and human psychology over just economics and politics. Physical reality sets the constraints for durable solutions.

There are many things that work in theory that don’t work in practice. If you want to change the world, shift your focus from punditry to the build. Builders embrace failure as crucial data. Choose action over analysis paralysis. #climatecapital

The Army of Autonomous Robots Restoring Nature | Tom Chi | TED
Impact investor Tom Chi challenges a dangerous assumption: that economic growth and ecological health are opposing forces. He reveals how advances in AI and robotics are enabling a radical shift towards innovation as a force for restoration. Imagine mines that extract less, farms that regenerate soil and fleets of robots that can plant 100,000 mangroves in a single day. What if the same technologies that power our economy could actively repair the planet at the same time? (Recorded at TED Countdown and Bezos Earth Fund on September 24, 2025) Countdown is TED's global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. AI outputs can often defy expectations. But assuming AIs possess consciousness is incorrect, and risky. Treating complex AI models as cognitive appliances, not conscious beings, is the mindset shift needed to use these powerful tools ethically and effectively. #ClimateCapital #AI

If you think #Neo or #Optimus will replace human workers, remember that optimizing a robot to look like a human often results in the robot performing poorly at specialized tasks. Roomba is a simple disc that cleans floors more efficiently than a humanoid robot, for a fraction of the price.
A humanoid-robot revolution is coming. Don't worry - here's why it will take a while.
Robots that mimic humans are set to create a $5 trillion market. But it will take years and a lot of improvements to get there.
