Nativism is a key tenet of Trump's worldview, unless you pay him enough and he will switch his position on a dime.

When the cold, heavy hand of depression comes to grip your shoulder, its poison seeps into every inch of your body, like a rotting ghost whispering through your veins, its black teeth clicking suicidal missives into the folds of your treasonous brain.

Depression is such an asshole. It can go away for months and months, then one day it pops back into your life, kicks you in the nuts, and holds a knife to your throat. I'm so fucking sick of this.

Conservatives want smaller government and more private enterprise only because private enterprise isn't accountable to the people, while govt is at least nominally accountable.

Enjoying coffee and a cigar on the front porch while the rain pours down outside. Very peaceful. Important to enjoy the little things while we can. ☕💨☔

My fear is not as much that the military will be deployed domestically to deport millions, it's that we'll have a McCarthy-like, Texas bounty system where neighbors will turn against each other. Whispers, accusations, sideways glances...pure chaos and paranoia.

Scott Bessent, former chief investment officer for George Soros’ investment firm, is Trump's pick for Secretary of Treasury. I was wrong about him picking a Silicon Valley guy, but this isn't better. So much for draining the swamp...

Likely no criminal sentencing for Trump until 2029. Other federal cases will be thrown out soon. And we're supposed to believe we're still under a fair and impartial justice system?

Wouldn't be surprised if Trump nominates a Silicon Valley crypto bro to Treasury instead of the standard Wall Street technocrat.

Is there anyone out there angling so hard to get a top position in Trump's govt than Nancy Mace right now?
November 21, 2024 at 6:45 AM
Wouldn't be surprised if Trump nominates Marc Andreessen or Ben Horowitz for Treasury Secretary. If not them, then someone else from Silicon Valley who's sympathetic to crypto and deregulation.

The devil you know (Wall St)?
The devil you don't know yet (Silicon Valley)?

Will be interesting to see the Trump v. Musk fight over AI policy next year. Musk wants to regulate and slow AI development, while Trump seems to want to open up development and deregulate the industry so we can out-compete China and others. Who do you think will win?

Trump lied about everything, stood for nothing, and so his voters projected whatever they wanted to believe onto him.

Is having a spine and solid policy positions a liability now? Is the way forward to just be a blank canvas? I sure hope not.

Thinking about doing a show on the philosophy of the Dude and The Big Lebowski overall. There's so much good stuff to discuss there. What do you think is the most interesting thing about the film or the characters?
