Wyoming is starting to understand the ripple effects of the shutdown, and what it means to lose marketplace tax credits.

Barrasso as usual doesn't get it.

The Wyoming Department of Family Services (DFS) wants to hear from Wyomingites who will be impacted. Like many states, the waiver is happening, but you get the chance to say how. Let them know your thoughts.

We won't let our friends and neighbors go hungry! Pitch in to help us hit $10,000 for Food Bank of Wyoming — every $1 = 3 meals.

Let’s feed some folks. 💙

Barrasso, Lummis and Hageman could easily start negotiating with their Congressional colleagues so that federal employees could get paid and Wyomingites don't have to be denied heat or food.

But that would require effort.

Lummis Barrasso & Hageman have been pretty clear they're not supportive of anyone who can't "pull themselves up by their bootstraps."

But here's the thing:
You can't think as well if you're hungry or constantly ill because you can't afford care.

Blaming people for policy decisions they make? 👎

"Cancel culture" getting out of hand.

If solving food insecurity was as easy as just not talking about it, we wouldn't be seeing people's visits to food banks increasing in lock step with things like higher grocery prices.

USDA needs to rethink its decision to collect food security data.

Rural voices need to be heard. Especially those in opposition to their state's political leadership.

Part of my thoughts as we brace for more cruelty to come is what resources used to be federalized or globalized that we now need to overhaul and convert to local and community funded positions.

Many people on the ground are already doing the work, find them. Help them.

Don't reinvent the wheel.

Pondering this week:

How do you encourage kindness in a sea of hatred and nihilism?

Why do we allow bullies to retain power?

What happens when your reality does not match the reality others exist in?

And-

How can I get my young children to return to falling asleep before 10pm?

Despite his recent barking, Barrasso consistently sides with cuts and hollowing out of federally funded public health initiatives. He voted to confirm RFK Jr and ignore his red flags.

I'm tired of his hypocrisy.

thehungrywyomingite.substack.com/p/barrasso-p...
Barrasso, you don’t want public health to be undermined? Could've fooled me.
Why do your actions speak otherwise?

Barrasso has the power as majority whip to get RFK Jr fired.

Instead, he gets some good soundbites saying he's "deeply concerned" about the gutting of the public health infrastructure in the US that puts millions at risk.

New moms bleeding out. Neighbors dying of heart attacks. Injured kids waiting hours for help.

Sounds like a horror movie, but it will be our reality in Wyoming. Every one of our reps in D.C. voted to gut our rural hospitals & communities w/ their vote for the Big Ugly Bill.

I am in the business of helping people, but it's very had to do so when politicians just want to pack on stress for average Americans.

Work requirements for benefits won't solve the problems American leadership refuses to face.

WY, pay attention.

This bill cuts vital safety net programs for youth, pregnant women, and those with disabilities.

It had to provide emergency funds that covers rural hospitals to prevent them from closing.

This is not about "waste fraud and abuse." It's about exploitation of the poor.
