They weren’t planning to be in contention this year. Same as the past few years their plan was get into the tournament and maybe get lucky. I don’t think you go with that plan and then pull the rug out from under the coach. Just saying what the Rooneys are going to do. 26-27 is the goal

They went into this year as the 2nd or 3rd in a rebuild with an eye on drafting a QB next year so he’s staying until ‘27 at least.

I think they just don’t run enough plays on offense so they’re always just trying to different things. Something works and they instantly go to something else bc they haven’t had a chance to do it yet.
The offenses dysfunction seeps into all other aspects of the team.
