I understand the lack of transparency is part of the problem, but it’s really not evident that it’s run by the same people that ran whatever Twitter account in 2017. But also, again, it doesn’t really matter, as no one is getting rich off of stickers and t-shirts that aren’t even advertised.

Of course not, but again, why does that matter? Pretty much every non-profit and for profit has merch, and I don’t begrudge anyone for making a few bucks off of a t-shirt if people want them. If you’re saying the whole point is to fuel t-shirt sales, that’s even sillier.

I think you vastly overestimate the time they take to go into any individual tax filings, and again, very easy to do it through someone else. Other fed employees have way crazier stuff they are shilling beyond resistance forest puns.

It’s not that hard to have it run by a partner or whatever. Lots and lots of fed employees have side hustles—I know from reviewing OGE 450s, I assure you.
