From their bold 7UP debut to the Buzzin' Hornets, Jordan Grand Prix's F1 liveries are a showcase of innovation and creativity. In my latest article, I dive into their evolution and the lasting impact they had.

Bryan Herta’s 1996 Team Rahal Reynard-Honda is pure 90s CART energy.

Black & white with some Shell yellow & red – it just looked cool but only snagged 2 podiums. Early in Herta’s career, but the livery was already a classic.

1993 DTM gave us one of the cleanest touring car liveries ever. Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti wore pure Alfa red with extra large Alga Romeo logos and bold number panels–nothing more, nothing less. Larini took 10 wins and both titles.

1999 Subaru Impreza WRC - their renowned blue & yellow with 555 logos at some rounds and Subaru non tobacco livery at most others. Burns & Kankkunen scored 4 wins, but Mäkinen took the title.

Jaguar’s XJR-9 in Silk Cut purple stormed Le Mans, ending Porsche’s reign. A 7.0-litre V12, clean white, purple & yellow , and victory for Lammers, Dumfries & Wallace in 1988.

Reflective blue, sweeping orange accents and a tessellating triangular pattern - this Gen 1 livery looked fast standing still. A modern design that nailed the futuristic brief and defined early Formula E livery design.

Bright yellow with giant paw prints! Tekno's 2013 livery had such fun privateer energy. Memorable sponsor and livery despite it's short tenure.

Jaguar R1 (2000)
British Racing Green at its best. The R1 wasn’t quick, but it looked classy: deep metallic green, crisp white sidepods, and that iconic Jaguar on the engine cover.
It never won, but in the livery stakes, it’s still top tier.

Tyrrell 025 (1997)
Slow, fragile, and more white than I'm comfortable with. Thin black lines and that's about it. Salo bagged two points at Monaco. They even had Xena on the side at times. A backmarker in every sense - but likeable all the same.

Nice chrome throwback from #McLaren. I think the black sections could have been left off leaving a chrome and papaya only effort, it looks stuck between two liveries for me. #f1 #britishgp #silverstone #chrome

Well, cool in theory, but a mess in practice. #RacingBulls #f1 #BritishGp

March 751 (1975)
Memorable livery & season. Bright orange paint. A clean black Beta logo. Raw metal rear wing. Doing a lot with only a little. A Brambilla win in Austria & crash after the flag. Lombardi scoring a (half) point — the only woman to do so.

Super Aguri SA08A (2008)

Red, white & black done right — clean & sharp. Super Aguri may have only run it for 5 races before folding, but this livery still stands out years later. A short-lived gem.

Mazda 787B. The Renown orange & green “stitched” livery was wild from every angle. Not subtle, not corporate - loud & proud.

Tyrrell’s 1984 season ended in disgrace—but visually? A beauty.

Bellof’s black, red & yellow design matched his helmet to perfection. Brundle’s Yardley brown shouldn’t have worked but kind of did. Rare split liveries, both memorable.

A fitting grey livery for Haas' 200th race. Honestly, a little nicer than their usual, but looking more than a little Vodafone McLaren.

Wild concept, visually unmatched.

Cool Warsteiner gold wrapped around one of F1’s most radical shapes. Minimal design, great colour choice and perfect sponsor logos and placement—it all just worked.

Guess the rest of the livery is still rendering...would be nice to have green on the back of the car too.

The Lotus 99T might be the cleanest “two-tone” livery F1’s ever seen. Just yellow and navy, no distractions — even all the logos match.
It took Senna to two wins in ’87, but it’s the design harmony that really sticks with you.

Decent livery, but honouring the M7A is a bit rich.

Minardi: perennial backmarker with an odd banger livery. The M189 used their classic black, yellow & white, beautifully. Diagonal blocks, clever sponsor placement, pinstripe detailing. One of the most underrated liveries of the era.

The original. The 1998 Toyota GT-One lives rent-free in the minds of anyone who grew up a Le Mans fan, or played lots of Gran Turismo. A Le Mans special, painted in iconic red with white “tear” graphics — fast, unforgettable.

Yes! This is awesome. Toyota's been plagued with unmemorable liveries in recent years, what a lovely return to the GT-One design.

The Sauber C24 was the final evolution of the Petronas livery — blue, turquoise, white & yellow, finally in perfect balance. The car wasn’t that quick, but the design? Peak Sauber. Clean, refined, and proudly privateer.

The AGS JH25B was a true backmarker — barely qualifying, struggling to survive.
Two shades of blue, flashes of yellow and red, no big sponsors. Not the most impactful livery, but deserves to be remembered nonetheless.
