Videos and podcasts are always cool, but deep down I'm still a sucker for the written word, so from time to time you might see some new reviews and articles on the site as well - the latest additions have their own slot on the site's main page. Here's what's currently featured at thelogbook.com...

Absolutely! It's just a neat little slice of what the cutting edge looked like a long time ago. I was VERY happy to find it again.

In 1994, Warner Bros. sent television stations 3.5" floppies bearing the Windows 3.1-compatible #Babylon5 Interactive Information Kit, encouraging stations to share it with fans and press alike. But what was on that floppy? www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYDy...

Who woulda thought that Gene Roddenberry's first TV pilot had a ton of potential?

When we first covered Gene Roddenberry’s Sam Houston western, we didn’t think it had ever been filmed.
Turns out... it was! And now that we’ve watched it, we’ve got some strong opinions.

This week on Gene-ology: Warrior: The Story of Sam Houston vs. Destiny and the Raven.

In this week's #MissionLogGeneology, @thelogbook.bsky.social and I tackle a challenging script from #JeffersonDrum, "Stagecoach Episode." This is the last script #GeneRoddenberry wrote for this series. CC: @roddenberrypod.bsky.social #StarTrek #nerdlyfe

Between this and Jefferson Drum's abrupt about-face on the notion of mercy and turning over a new leaf at the end of "The Poet", it definitely feels like there was some kind of tonal shift in the show. If the entire show was available it'd be a lot easier to gauge any changes that happened.

No writer in the history of the medium has a batting average of a thousand, but this last work Gene Roddenberry did for the ’50s western Jefferson Drum is an especially challenging script, with messages that are both on-brand and very off-brand for Gene. www.missionlogpodcast.com/stagecoach-e...

So let's see... surprisingly modern message in a Gene Roddenberry script from 1958? Check. Absolute banger of a recreated scene from that script? Check. Sounds like it's the latest Gene-ology podcast to me! Give it a listen and meet "Madam Faro": www.missionlogpodcast.com/madam-faro/

Even if you've never heard of Jefferson Drum (almost 70 years on, you're probably in the majority), the show was still graced with a Gene Roddenberry script that feels like a cautionary message to 2025. Gene-ology is back, and we have some thoughts on this. www.missionlogpodcast.com/law-and-order/
