Phonics is how we teach reading in the UK, we don't really call it phonics because it's just learning to read, it's the way we do it here.

And don't forget the school franchise machine buys learning materials in bulk and they have a standing order with the company that makes 3 cue material and the entire industrial learning complex would fall over and all the schools would close if they went with a different supplier. Capitalism!
