The Adirondack Scenic and Catskill Mountain line are past victims.

It used to be about abandoned rights of way, but that’s not always the case anymore. This puts Rails to Trails at odds with businesses and preservationists.

I am sorry I couldn’t listen in today. Rails to Trails has done some great work, but there is a darker aspect to the movement that seeks to put operating railroads out of business. This has happened in many places including successfully removing operating railroads in New York State.
