The league also does nothing to help make the game cheaper and easier for people to begin playing the game.
When I started playing sticks were at most $50 and my pads were a couple hundred in total.
Now a single stick cost as much as all my equipment did combined.
Not to mention league fees.

Beyond just the games, the coverage of the sport on a national level is sorely lacking. A lot of TV analysis is regurgitated “hockeyisms” and there’s little breakdown of systems, tactics, and analytics to make the casual viewer smarter. Missing a Dan Orlovsky/Mina Kimes/Greg Olsen
You need about a half-dozen different services/subscriptions to watch NHL games, & even then you're blacked out randomly or there's some random switch to a different network that you can only access if you answer these riddles three.
