Highest good means things that will ultimately benefit you the most. Contributing to your overall growth, happiness, etc. a lot of times it looks like dealing with difficult situations and trauma but addressing these things benefits you in the long run.

I use the universe interchangeably with Source, Spirit, God, Creator. But essentially we are all one so it can mean the physical universe also. Everything conspires for our highest good.
