I just wanted to say that this is an amazing organization. Have never seen another group that focused on the potential challenges faced by homeschooled children. To be clear I do have loving involved parents, but that does not mean everything was perfect! And others weren't so lucky #homeschoolchat

Thank you, I will! So far at least one sibling has made it out and is living a great life despite no previous education. I know it can happen with the rest of my siblings!

Mostly I acknowledge when my mental health isn't great and do the work I need to do that I can feel better & function well. I didn't do that growing up and it's hard sometimes, but I'm learning to validate myself and accept that sometimes I just need some extra help. #homeschoolchat

THERAPY. And using the tools I have learned through years of counseling. Literally just breathing deep a few times a days does fucking wonders. I also knit/crochet, talk out my feelings with my partner or friends, walk outside, drink lots of water, read an uplifting book, and cry. #homeschoolchat

Mine weren't leaders but they did think they were elevated in the church. Actual leaders tried to speak up a few times but were always dismissed. 🙃

A4 p3: Frankly, I just hope that one day when those kids are old enough to fend for themselves they will remember what I've said and look to me or others around them for help.while they're at home though,I have no clear answer to this question.

A4 p2: I truly don't know what I or anyone near them can do to support their mental health. My family of origin is in a cult and will not listen to those who don't align with their beliefs. No matter how hard I have tried, I can't get through.

A4 p1: I honestly don't know the answer to this one. I had concerned family members & neighbors who tried to talk sense to my parents but they were always ridiculed and accused of being "deceived". As the oldest of many siblings, some of whom are still in my parents' home,

I can't know for certain, but I imagine that even just learning what "mental health" was would have been a start. And being taught how to regulate my emotions. Even just being told to take the deep breaths could have gone a long way. If I sound calloused or bitter that's because I am.
