I had a random run-in with Richie at a breakfast spot near West Hollywood a few years ago when we were both waiting for a table. Was very odd to say I enjoyed watching him during his brief run with the Huskers while not mentioning anything else.

Saw a stat last night that the Steelers haven't lost a home game on MNF since 1991.

Whoa. I finally understand the meaning behind the title Under the Rainbow.

And I think I'm going to watch The Terry Fox Story for the 55th time today.

The small college in the Wisconsin town where my mom lives closed this past spring and they're really feeling it that 10% of its population is gone.

Many schools have cracked the code that sports can be a boon and often they target travel ball parents for the ego boost of playing in college.

It was a great show

In a couple weeks they're doing a huge toy drive for the Long Beach Children's Hospital at MLB's Compton Youth Academy.

And the game goes to extra innings.

The other team ended up walking it off in the 7th but it was fun to watch Manny and squad celebrate their biggest play of the season.

Moments like that matter more than winning.

The pitcher winds up and throws a juicy pitch that is absolutely smoked down the line but the 8-year-old first baseman makes a web gem of a diving stab and snags the ball mere inches above the grass. And THEN he pops up, spinning mid-air, and steps on first for the double play.

When his pitcher finished warming up, Manny turned to me and said "I don't know how we're gonna get out of this one."

"The Dodgers were in a really big pickle just like you guys and they made it through. You just gotta believe, buddy."

The batter steps in and it's game on...
