On Wednesday morning a crowd of passionate parents and students were protesting Houston ISD’s state-appointed board of managers and Superintendent Mike Miles as an estimated 3,000 desks across the district stood empty.
Houston ISD parents protest Mike Miles as thousands pull kids out of school
Local activist group Community Voices for Public Education planned both the sick-out and protest, targeted against the state-appointed board of managers and Superintendent Mike Miles. It estimates that nearly 3,000 students stayed home on Wednesday.

I just called all my reps using 5calls extremely helpful contact info and script. Got through to one, left a voicemail for another, and had to dig up Adam Schiff's website contact page because the voicemail was full and you're not getting rid of me that easy. You should do it too.

I really like the lists feature on here since I can finally filter my feed however I like. It's going to take a while to rebuild the art world, math world and friends I knew from Instagram though.

A new collection of murals is decorating the streets of downtown Houston while expanding on an ongoing beautification initiative.
New murals unveiled in downtown Houston as part of growing collection
Ten larger-than-life works of art are being created as the latest installments in the “Big Art. Bigger Change” project, which launched in the fall of 2022. Four of the new murals were unveiled this week.
