I know I've said this before, but, on Xmas Day 1990, seeing Strider at my best mates house was simply mind-blowing. It took me 4 months, two paper rounds and the sale of a LOT of C64 games, but the MD became my first console, all down to that game.

Made approximately one million times better using a mouse.

MON perhaps? Maniacs of Noise?

Wasn't this by the same coders as Turbo?

(funnily enough, I was playing Turbo Outrun only last night)

Does a C64 from 86-91 count? I loved it, but did always envy the Amiga owners.

And also the modern push for "telly" games to be never-ending 100+ hour endurance-a-thon.

I've forever been a pick-up and play kinda gamer #ADHD

It's interesting (to me), that 35 years ago, I had no interest whatsoever in playing underpowered handhelds compared to my 16-bit telly consoles, and all this time later, my gaming is 100% handheld.

*Ahem*. Best played with a MOUSE.

The two people I know that own them (not young) are loaned-up to the hilt.

To be fair, he's probably in his 40s or 50s now.

The middle-aged Bastard.

Back in the early 90s, I once watched a kid put 5 credits into an Outrun cab and complete all 5 endings in one sitting.

I hated that kid. I still hate that kid.

Yes. What are we discussing next?

Thalamus was just a badge of quality around this time. I'd buy anything they put out at that point.

ICO, then Burnout 3.

I'm going to keep it, and hopefully, there will be some cross-gen games that I get to play with my Son—he on Switch 2, me on the OLED.

48 and already struggling.

Once upon a time, I had around 700 CDs. I'm now down to 80 "essential" albums that I can't part with, despite the fact that they've not been in a CD Player for five years or more.

I decided a few years ago that I wouldn't be buying any new consoles. The Switch will do for me now.

I could pm you all day comparing notes, but it may be too traumatic for us both 🤣

Back when games were so affordable that I owned most of the games in the chart.

Seven episodes in and I'm fully hooked!

Oh Man. You're talking about the last four years of my life and my sister-in-law 🙄. I feel your pain!
