16/ As you can probably tell this all requires funds! We are determined not to paywall our journalism, so we have a membership funding model. For £6.95/month/ £68/year you can help us do more journalism and build the Nerve. Or you can sign up to our free twice-weekly newsletter..

15/ ...including a report from the Monmouth floods, Stewart Lee's weekly column and all our culture content. Somehow we fitted in a members event on Tuesday with digital sage
Cory Doctorow (he said he's coming to Bluesky soon!). was good timing to have Ana - second left below - interning this week)

14/ Meanwhile our other co-founders have been working flat out. @sarahdonaldson.bsky.social and creative director Lynsey Irvine did evening shifts editing the timeline and designing our first print edition, and Jane Ferguson and @imogencarter.bsky.social produced all the rest of our journalism..

13/ Our co-founder @carolecadwalla.bsky.social first reported on this on 12 October. Our researcher Charlie Young has a built a 50 page document,& our Reform correspondent @johnsweeneyroar.bsky.social swam in the channel filming one of our video reports! 🥶www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5OwzvIOFEM

12/ Link in final post but before that a quick plea. The Nerve is just 8 weeks old. We're a fierce, female-founded news org covering culture politics & tech. Public service research journalism is expensive & time-consuming. To date, this project alone has taken 100s of man hours

12/ See our full timeline for all the detail and more evidence, including an extraordinary clip from Gill's comment-lite police interview in March 2022, 6 months after his arrest.
“Who is Oleg Voloshyn?” No comment.
“How long have you known Oleg Volshyn?” No comment.

11/ Gill was close to Nigel Farage, a trusted colleague and a senior figure both in Ukip/Brexit party and Reform. The Met police says Farage was not interviewed and there's no suggestion he took bribes / is linked to Gill's case. They say investigations into other unspecified politicians are ongoing

9/ Arnott and Coburn did however travel to Ukraine with Gill on a media "fact-finding" trip and two months later made similar statements to the European parliament that Gill did in relation to this charge:
November 23, 2025 at 11:58 AM
8/ In these messages Voloshyn asks Gill to arrange for three MEPs to make "comments on camera". He mentions ex-Ukip/Brexit party MEPs Jonathan Arnott and David Coburn. There's no suggestion Arnott & Coburn took bribes, knew about Voloshyn, or agreed to this particular proposal
November 23, 2025 at 11:56 AM
7/ And the related video from the police evidence file, the Channel 112 interview in which Gill speaks in defence of Medvedchuk
November 23, 2025 at 11:53 AM
6/ Also included is this bribery count...
November 23, 2025 at 11:53 AM
5/ We're also publishing a large portion of the evidence file, which includes WhatsApp messages with his handler/bribe funnel Oleh Voloshyn, clips from Gill's pro-Russian media statetments and from his police interviews. Here's one WhatsApp message- 'gifts' is a reference to cash

4/ As a fiercely independent news platform, we believe it's important that the public can access the detail of the case. And now we are publishing our timeline online. It details all of Gill's charges and related activity, including this one:
November 23, 2025 at 11:53 AM
3/ We gave this timeline of evidence, the charges and context out outside court. No one had heard of Gill. Of course, it's hard for stories to cut through. But it's made harder when only 2 papers - Guardian & Mirror - mention the conviction/story on their front page & only one prints Gill's picture🙄
November 23, 2025 at 11:53 AM
WhatsApps reveal Gill sought to recruit other Brexit/Reform MEPs to make pro-Kremlin statements and that Gill’s handler took orders from Viktor Medvedchuk, a close Putin ally. It's a complex, detail-heavy story. So we went back to journalism's roots and made a pamphlet to hand out at the Old Bailey.
