October 7, 1960: Twilight Zone's "The Man in the Bottle" airs. A pawnshop owner and his wife release a genie who grants them four wishes — and discover the downsides of getting what you really want.

Joseph Ruskin, the genie, later did the voice of the Kanamit in "To Serve Man"!

For sure. Serling was so well tapped into human nature with all of its faults and foibles.

Have "A Fear of Spiders"? So does the October 6, 1971 episode of Night Gallery. This Serling-scripted tale (one of four stories in this episode) stars Patrick O’Neal and Kim Stanley.

Also includes Serling's "The Academy." On DVD ($12.79 US) and Blu-ray: www.amazon.com/Night-Galler...

a matter of taste.

The good news is, even though there are some highlights throughout the series, Season 2 is unquestionably when NG was at its zenith. Hang in there!

The short black-out sketches are almost invariably bad. Avoid them and focus on the rest of it.

The gems are definitely worth it.

NG is very much a product of its time — to the point where it actually feels more dated at times than TZ, which is 10 years older.

I enjoy that low-rent vibe that permeated much of early-70s horror (here and elsewhere), so I tend to be more forgiving. But it IS

It's Buster Keaton Day! If you're a fan, consider following @busterlove1895, @buster_fans, @BusterKGifs, and @BusterKeatonSoc.

Twilight Zone fans know Buster from Season 3's "Once Upon a Time," but his silent films (like "The General") better showcase his talent. Check them out!

"Our story is called 'The Howling Man' by Charles Beaumont. It's designed for the young in heart but the strong of nerve."

Nice touch, isn’t it? ☀️ My daughter Molly did it. No input from me, btw — King Nine is one of her favorite episodes, and this is what she came up with. 😊

Ha, yeah, I guess so! It’s been so long since I first learned that that it seems unremarkable now, but I see what you mean.
thenightgallery.bsky.social
Yes, even though most fans don’t rank it in their top 10, it’s still a big favorite!

So true! They drew all the top actors.
