Hi! Name’s Theo (he/him)! I’m a senior at UNO, majoring in psychology. I love neuroscience, research, and my cat. 🧠🏳️‍⚧️
“Why Women Aren’t Welcome on the Internet” — there’s SO many things I can say about this topic as someone who’s been on the internet for over 10 years. From personal experience, I have seen so many double standards in regards to women vs men it’s almost predictable at this point. (1/?)

Noor’s article, “Men who leave their spouses…,” had me buzzing with anger and frustration. I KNOW this is was problem, but I forget that people don’t….unconditionally love their partners in sickness AND in health— being around healthy queer relationships has actually narrowed my view of this (1/?)

The articles we have this week are so interesting, but I actually have a funny story regarding Mahdawi’s ‘Who’s The Man?’ article. To set the scene, my boyfriend and I are both trans-masculine, and this fact confuses a lot of people (…for some odd reason). (1/?)

“Eroticism for one of the same sex” & “the living world is a continuum” & “sex liberal” & “a perverted sexual alien” & “a lascivious outlaw” — all wonderful quotes from Katz’ “The Invention of Heterosexuality” (1/?)

Castleman’s “Sex in America” article was extremely interesting to read from the POV of a young adult. As my generation has begun having committed relationships, we have places less of a weight to sex, virginity, and marriage. This (like the article mentions) is because of a decrease in the.. (1/?)

Radnofsky’s article on the binary of men’s and women’s sports kind of…felt weird to read. In my opinion, the first half of the article almost made me stop reading because it teetered the line between being transphobic or not. (1/?)

Good afternoon everyone, I’m here to talk about “The Weird History of Gender-Segregated Bathrooms” (2016) and an article posted by WWNO regarding Louisiana bathroom policies (2024) (1/?)

Gov. Landry signs contentious ‘bathroom bill’ into law
The law criminalizes transgender residents’ who use restrooms that align with their gender identities in schools, jails, domestic violence shelters and other government buildings.

I had…conflicting thoughts about Tolentino’s article on empowerment, but most of these thoughts came in the form of hypothetical questions and then further discussion based on those questions (1/?)

Building off that, around 2022, I saw a rise in the y2k, hot pink, mini skirt, Paris Hilton “that’s hot” aesthetics, which Im going to lump all together into “bimbocore.” (Shoutout to Aliyah's Interlude <3) www.elle.com/fashion/a407...

The other article I wanted to mention was the APA’s article on masculinity, energy drink use, and sleep problems. As a research analyst— I actually the original research article, and compared it to this review article (to see how reliable these conclusions ACTUALLY are) (1/?)

Still in Hamlett’s article, I wanted to bring attention to another phenomenon that occurs when men rely on their partner for everything companionship related: the widower’s loneliness turned into learned helplessness
February 24, 2025 at 3:12 AM
For my first analysis, we have…..Hamlett’s “Men Have No Friends…”, which highlights an extremely important concept in a heteronormative society: the emotional ‘second shift’ women are forced to work after they commit to a relationship (1/?)

I HAVE to give Feminist Class Struggle by Bell Hooks my *snaps*, because they touched on everything that I admire in feminist literature: effects of feminism on racial minorities, how lesbians were a big part of the movement, and how we need change before anything can get better (1/?)

Reading ‘Intersectionality in Sociology’ was extremely interesting because of not just because of the statistics it provides, but because of the explanations behind them. Particularly, I had thoughts about the phrases attached.

Ahh, you do such a great job of capturing nuance here and using a relatively small space to say a lot! I wanted to comment especially on your idea that THEY COULD JUST BE COLLEGE AGED and it would be tons more appropriate-and IMO more accurate, too(tho I could hear out diff of opinion on that part)

Out of the articles for this week, I’ve enjoyed Wilkinson’s the most. I (personally) found it to be the most encapsulating of my own views— ones that I’ve held since Euphoria’s release. Attached is a section of the article that I found the most impactful/a starting point for my thoughts (1/?)

“Masculinity…is actually quite a fragile identity because it is at risk of being broken” // “fabulous clothes = power is man-made = can be lost” // “inauthenticity = lack of productivity & innovation” — I actually really liked Barry’s article because of how much it reflects my own experience (1/?)

Morin’s article is intriguing, not exactly for the content but for the way it’s written. I know the article’s main focus is Americans’ views on masculinity and how K-pop “challenges that”…but I wish it focused more on the racist/homophobic undertones (1/?)

This is imported here from twitter, I am just going to attach this image for everyone to read, consider, and keep in mind. // it is also related to one of my threads last week (I’m attaching a resource for anyone interested— also on twitter). Stay safe and stay informed!

“We keep hesitating at the notion that sex, too, does not obey strict binaries” — this quote stood out to me SO distinctively because of the age of this article vs. what is happening in the United States at this very moment. The article “A New Era For Intersex Rights” was written in 2013…(1/?)

This picture I’ve attached is from Eliot’s article on brains— but it closely relates to Miller and Quealy’s performance article. Miller and Quealy’s article is an analysis of a Stanford article focusing on males, females, and how socioeconomic status creates a gender gap (1/?)

…Better late than never! First: a discussion of the 2021 article “You don’t have a male or female brain” // After reading this article, I went into some of the provided imbedded links to read/analyze the original articles from which the “each genders has a different brain” comments came from (1/?)

Took the last…3 hours to dig into some of these articles (looking at original case studies, their statistics, their results, etc.) and I have some commentary to share tomorrow // preview: neurobiological differences are not statistically significant across the gender spectrum….period
