Interesting what gets brought up by fallen trees! Many narratives! Probably about £300-400 per sample. Few issues though - it looks mature wood (see “old wood effect”), also unclear what is being dated eg wildfire, human activity?, and moss on it may indicate contamination that could skew RC-dating.

The article is one of a few I have had published during my PhD but the first I’ve had in print. In it, I use clues in the landscape to rectify the location of previous archaeological work at the site and reveal how this changes our interpretation.
