These are not glaciers, but remnants of avalanches (left), and this is not the Fedchenko Glacier, but the Grum-Grshimailo Glacier (right). Please correct this. Thank you.

The study cited in these media articles examines only one [!] glacier (Kyzylsu, red area in map below), located outside both the Pamirs and the ‘Pamir–Karakoram anomaly.’ From such limited data, it is impossible to generalize to all of Tajikistan—yet another case of media distortion for headlines.

I have read that they are getting back into tourism in Tajikistan and Central Asia in general. They stopped these activities a few years ago. No idea why tourism is suddenly a focus again ...
