In a time when education is under attack, we educators are ready to stand our ground and fight for the right to learn!
Without alternatives like The Pearl, these students would be unable to graduate high school, damaging their ability to receive good jobs and have a stable life. This is systematic oppression, all perpetuated by people who claim to be "protecting the children"
Since the election, every new student who has signed up for our school has identified as LGBTQ. This is hugely representative of how hostile the public school system has become for Queer youth.

In a time where so many have turned their backs on our queer youth, it warms the heart to see a post like this. Thank you for continuing to be so loudly supportive! I can't imagine how meaningful it must be for young fans to see a post like this right now.

As we strive towards a more equitable world, education must include Indigenous knowledge. Undoing centuries of colonization will not happen overnight, but questioning current educational structures and dispelling colonial myths are steps in the right direction.

In 2024, an estimated 1,128 unique titles from public libraries were targeted for censorship. ⁠(ALA.org) That's why one of our literature classes for this spring is a banned book club. We encourage our students to seek knowledge!
