Fun demo show for kids, adult kids enjoy too. Proceeds bring students from underserved schools. 240k+ served. TYC is our day job. Voice of David, not Frank. Trying to bring more AAPI content to this site.
This month's Physics Teacher has a piece on the Physics Show (doi.org/10.1119/5.02...)! It's great to see our model disseminated. @barnettdreyfuss.bsky.social tells her journey in the American Journal of Physics (doi.org/10.1119/5.03...). We came up in the same ecosystem, it was a joy to read.

It's the #DayOfRemembrance. Over the past month I have thought often of my grandparents' lessons. They taught to resist, even if the odds are overwhelmingly against you. Comply when needed, but only when needed. Nurture and protect your communities. They survived, and so will we.

For Fred Korematsu Day, a photo of Japanese-Americans in their Internment camp. They are meeting with the White businessman they hired to oversee their farms. My grandfather (marked) helped them form a collective and write the contract. Unlike most JA, they didn't lose their farms.

Organize.

I wear a tutu for the conservation of angular momentum part of our show. My first reaction to this photo was "I'd look better if I smiled." I don't recall ever thinking that before when viewing other photos of me. But all it took to trigger that sexism was a change of clothing. :(

Sad to learn Mary Mogge has passed. She guided me in AAPT when I moved up to the national level. I discovered she was a year ahead of my dad at Stony Brook, I'm including a photo from her first year there. The last time I saw her was at AAPTSM23, where I was pleased to introduce her to my son.

Have a reflective #FredKorematsuDay. The photo below is a business meeting at the Amache incarceration camp. The Japanese-Americans contracted caretakers to oversee their farms in the absence. They were some of the few JA who returned to their farms after the war. My grandfather helped lead.
