I'm working my way through "Parable of the Sewer" by Octavia Butler. I knew I needed to after reading some verses from the main character's 'Earthseed' religion. I really resonate with this stuff, despite this being an unpleasant time to read dystopian novels. This stuff is incredible!
Verse Seven from EARTHSEED: "A victim of God may, Through learning and adaption, Become a partner of God, A victim of God may, Through forethought and planning, Become a shaper of God. Or a victim of God may, Through shortsightedness and fear, Remain Godʼs victim, Godʼs plaything, Godʼs prey." Seriously, isn't this beyond amazing? Like...absolutely perfect!

There is a technique to talking to women which is far more effective. It is called: treat them like a fucking human being. Just actually talk to them. If you must, imagine that they are a man and then talk to them the way you would in that scenario. You will find that your status, if this is the key variable we're worrying about, has massively increased.

This should be a mantra. It should, ideally, be accompanied with a shrug. Deeply internalising this sentiment will be the most liberating thing you can do. This is the real reason why someone doesn't fancy you. It's not because you are unfanciable. It's not because you are fundamentally useless as a human being. It's not because you're minging. It's because you're not for everyone and as it happens you're not for this one. In the future, there will be women you are for: beautiful, funny, mischievous women. You just weren't for this one. And this one, incidentally, will have guys she's not for either.

Getting back into coin collecting after many years. I sold my old collection for food and gas. Here's hoping the new collection won't meet the same fate. Behold - shiny wheat backs!

Almost finished listening to "Slayers, Every one of Us" by Kristin Russo and Jenny Owen Youngs. Their podcast about Buffy has been such a wonderful thing to experience, and I also adored experiencing this book. I can't recommend it enough!

I've been going to an Episcopal Church for six weeks now. As a joke, I took this test on what type of Anglican I am. The results are not surprising, but I tried y'all!
An elderly Bishop stands up in a lovely Church to preach heresies I largely agree with. Underneath is a caption that says: "Your Result: Liberal Forget about discomfort with being Anglican, you're not sure "Christian" isn't a colonial, patriarchal, homophobic, western hegemonic label. You may be an old school" It's unclear whether or not I really count as a Liberal Anglican or just a really weird Atheist whose currently attending an Episcopal Church. Whose to say? Also, suddenly realizing this, we could right SO damn much in this alt-text section. I respect the real purpose of this alt-text thing, but like, we could so exploit this to skeet out whole essays in one go and write weird esoteric shit. Anyway, where was I going with this?

I'm reading this incredible novel. I haven't read something this good in forever. This aci-fi novel, The Light of Other Days, is now everything to me lol.
