Having a low filter for speech is something ADHD people deal with a lot, saying the first thing that comes to mind even when you shouldn’t, things like that. I understand it because I live with it, if you ever needed somebody to talk to

I fell into an immense depression in the following weeks, had to start working as an Amazon driver just to survive. Went back to security work. I was paralyzed with despair. Debt climbed as the months went on. Never fully recovered emotionally from it all. Or financially.

The truth turned out to be:

The other guy caught wind of what I suggested and, in an act of sheer insecurity said that I had threatened to kill him.

Because I was a contract worker there was no investigation.

His word was taken at face value.

It was a total fabrication.

I suggested we make the department co-leads and let him continue focusing on the testing while I handled the clerical duties and be converted to permanent. All producers I spoke with loved the idea and applauded my fairness.

I was fired a week later.

They refused to elaborate.

The issue here is that he was permanent and I was on month 2 of a 3 month contract and hadn’t been made permanent yet, but I was doing half of his job for him. It wasn’t fair and I wanted job security so I spoke to a few of the producers about the situation during a company trip.

Shocking absolutely no one, he wasn’t very good in his new leadership role. He hyper focused on the testing aspects and neglected or wholly ignored the clerical aspects. But those things needed to be done, so I was the one who ended up doing them.
