The world instills in us a sense that we must draw everything from observation and that tracing or using a grid is "cheating" but it's really ok to use whatever methods you need to produce results you like, as long as you don't steal another person's work.

I think this one is my longest painting project as of yet. I feel like I learned so much from Aveline Stokart's light and shading course on 21Draw (I cannot tag any of the relevant entities), and I highly recommend it. These are the MCs from my WIP standalone novel.

I didn't know who Anita Loos was before I selected her portrait as a drawing reference, but as it turns out she had rather an enviable resume. Gentlemen may prefer blonds, but ladies enjoy drawing brunettes.

Mostly historical, and mostly it doesn't end up appearing on page. Latest were turn-of-the-century school uniforms in Japan vs. England; train stations at the time and whether they were filled with steam, smoke, or both, and the make of the grille in motorcars from the 1910s.
