As a kid, I had a collection of the comics released to coincidentally with the movie, and I was completely mesmerized by the stories. So intense and graphic. Amazing stuff.

I can never understand why they made that movie, how they got the money, etc., but it strikes as being really useful for film overall. A fascinating but flawed experiment.

My hot take: mainstream superhero comics should be for kids. Its okay to still like them. As an adult, it is okay to like media created for kids. But dragging kids characters into the realities of adulthood perverts them in ways truly damaging to culture.
