Think you’re a better mech pilot than Amuro or Shinji? Prove it.

CHVLR is a solo journaling game about how much it sucks to be a teenage mecha pilot (and how you will inevitably die).

Yeah there’s a few gaps here and there. Some you do have to fudge a little or reskin, but I found them super fun at the table. I love their little experiences and behaviours.

One thing I would say is the adversaries work better in their groups (ie jagged knife whatever’s), as the leaders have abilities than can activate multiple minions, etc. so you can spend fear efficiently.

I love it. I have a ND brain too and it sort of plays exactly how I usually run games so it flows for me, though I rarely do theatre of the mind. I do have all the adversaries on cards and designed a printed sheet to keep track of HP and stress and difficulty numbers, etc. though.

Sometimes people make stuff that isn’t for you, matey. There’s a huge amount of younger players that have never heard of Traveller that love 5e and this could be their entry point into a wider universe. That’s a good thing!

Jiangshi (especially with a Chinese meal)
Daggerheart (it just rocks)
Dusk City Outlaws (beats BITD for me)
Bladerunner (great investigation mechanics)
Mage 20 (a game with an entire universe and metaphysics … and you can mess it all up)

Actually I’m a little worried this year’s move will kill the vibe - I usually go stag and bump into friends at the bar… excel might be a bit different.
