“Live to work” or “work to Live”? Definitely choosing the latter. Being surrounded by the art and soul throughout NOLA has inspired my art so much. Been synthing late night with Make Noise Dark Easel. Buchla Music Easel within reach. Beeps and bloops and beauty to commence shortly.

Show 5: Phish Spectrum 99

An all time classic. Tripping balls. Hood, Mikes groove to open… Ghost->2001 had me feeling like the spectrum was blasting off into outer space. Always hoping an official release makes its way to the fans. Could write an essay on this night and its impact on my life.

Show 4: Ozzfest 98

2nd time seeing Tool. Played Jimmy which was transcendent. Amazing second stage line up: System of a Down, Motörhead, Snot, Incubus.

Show 3: Pantera/Anthrax

Back to metal roots for a moment. Probably the loudest show I have ever seen. Anthrax closed with Bring the Noise and entire venue was a giant mosh pit. Was positioned at the rail in front of Dime. Total elation. Knew every song. Probably had bruised ribs for a week.

Show 2: the Phish from Vermont

Went at urging of my bass teacher. Life changing night for this young metalhead as I went on to see Phish extensively over the next 25 years. Still one of my favorite setlists of all time.

Show #1: Lollapalooza 97…

Was there to see Tool for the 1st time. Completely blown away by the audio visual onslaught. Pushit and Eulogy from this show live rent free in my mind. 1st of many tool shows. Other acts included tricky, Julian/Damien Marley, snoop, Korn, and failure.

My kids asked me, a while back, what were the best concerts I have seen. While going through some boxes in attic, found a box of old stubs. Thought I’d share more on bsky as I reflected on some of the shows within that box (not inclusive of all shows of course).
