Still up for debate, the lowest bar is simply making sure there's RSS at the instance level, and letting instances listen to, and integrate, each other's feeds. ActivityPub would be nice, but is definitely not the first step.

If they want to help tackle issues, they're more than welcome to! I'm hoping to have the last big feature -- file rewinding -- landed in the next few days, after that it becomes more of a "use it for a while myself and find out where the pain points are" while working on the smaller stuff.

With the explicit intention that this is something that anyone can deploy and have their friends sign up and start making cool stuff on the web. I'm wrapping up "rewind" functionality at the moment, after which the "only" thing left is going to be federation.

Unfortunately, MarkText can't deal with properly long documents (I write long-form 50k+ word tutorials), and gets confused, skipping to the top of the document instead of start of the line, and undo/redo takes worryingly long. Bear/Joplin are even more geared for super-short documents =(
