Just so I understand you, you’re asking if Wittgenstein believes that a doctor or philosopher should be disbarred for practicing what they are taught? Or that he sees both disciplines as embedded in a social milieu?

You could write a book on that one, beginning with what is meant by “meat” and “murder” before moving onto our nutritional requirements, the ethics of being human and the subjective nature of happiness.

Philosophers, like doctors, often deal with surface-level appearance without examining the premise, the root cause, of the problem at hand.

Ah, good question. I was distracted by mention of Big Pharma at first!

The passage is open to some interpretation but I don’t think Wittgenstein was concerned about the medical establishment writ large. He felt that language had a deceptive effect on our interpretation of the world.
